Global Visions will organise a panel discussion on 27th of September at 5:30 pm to discuss what a basic income society would be like in practice and theory. The discussion will cover a wide range of social perspectives on the topic. The implementation of a basic income requires first and foremost economic reforms and its financing will be the first practical issue to be addressed in the discussion. Next, there will be an examination of existing and conceivable positive social impacts that a social security reform such as the basic income could have. Finally, the panel will pursue above all to envision a future society in which basic income is implemented as a permanent pillar of social security. After the formal discussion, the panel will take questions from the audience, which can also be sent in advance to max.tallberg@globalvisions.fi
Discussing the basic income society are Signe Jauhiainen, (Senior Reseacher at Kela), Petteri Räty (the chairperson at BIEN Finland), and Heikki Hiilamo (professor of social policy at the University of Helsinki). Max Tallberg, the chairman of Global Visions will prepare the ground for a discussion and the debate will be moderated by Petri Lahtinen, the project planner at Global Visions. The debate will be held in English. The event will also be filmed and can be viewed afterwards on the Global Visions YouTube channel. The event is free of charge!
