The initial idea for our association dates back a few years, to the time I first read about the ideas of a universal basic income and the free movement of people. Looking into these ideas, I started to wonder what a world, where these two reforms would be implemented globally, would look like. This was the starting point for my book, which then later evolved into encompassing other themes as well. At the same time the idea of an organization that would focus on campaigning for such global societal visions, started to develop in my mind. Out of this idea the Global Visions Association started to form.
I have always been a curious and contemplative person, and looking back on my areas of interest, one common denominator has been questions of what is good and what is right. Our association proposes an answer to this question, which I have come to fully believe in. I have always also been a firm believer in the huge potential of our common humanity, given the right circumstances. I have been inspired by the historical movement around Gandhi, for instance.
The key aim of our association is to act as a platform to facilitate discussions concerning how the state of the world can best be improved. We believe that given the right, truthful information, and the possibility of together enquiring into these questions, positive change is possible. The globalized world of today needs, above all else, more cooperation and solutions that enable everyone to live a dignified and good life.
I also believe that idealism is important because it enables change for the better. A cynical person does not even care if things develop for the worse, whereas an idealist always tries to find new solutions for the problems of the world. One could also say that without idealism there would be no direction to head into. A lesson I have found in my personal life is that altruism and focusing on helping other people is the best way to reach personal fulfillment and wellbeing. This has also led me to believe that a better world is possible, if only we take the time to work together and start looking towards a brighter shared future.
