Planetary Political Imagination and Democracy event organised by Polifa ry 20.2

POLIFA warmly welcomes you to Planetary political imagination and democracy – from ideas to action, an event held on Thursday 20th of February, 18-19.30 at Tekstin talo, permantosali.  The event is hosted by POLIFA and Global Visions ry, and the goal is to bring visibility to novel ideas of global democracy, sovereignty and political imagination. POLIFA is an international research and advocacy organisation with a focus on freedom, democracy and political imagination. The program includes three presentations on themes of global political imagination and democracy. The event will be in-person and a recording will be available online – no registration needed.
Speakers:

Eeva Mäkinen is a PhD political researcher of universal postcolonial political imagination at the University of Lapland and founder of POLIFA. The aim of POLIFA is to raise visibility of novel ideas of freedom, democracy and political imagination that receive less attention. Eeva is interested in global phenomena and ideas that take various forms locally.”

Max Tallberg is the founder and chairperson of the Global Visions Association. The aim of the association is to bring together people, groups and ideas that are striving to build a better world, with a view focused especially on global possibilities regarding all of this.”

Heikki Patomäki is Professor of World Politics and Global Political Economy at the University of Helsinki. He has worked as a full professor also in Nottingham and Melbourne and as a visiting professor in Kyoto and Aberystwyth. He has published some 20 monographs, 10 edited volumes and special issues, and more than 250 academic papers on topics such as the philosophy of social sciences, global political economy and security, economic and political theory, as well as peace research.”
